Heart Surgery – Innovation and Cutting Edge Technology

Join us for a lecture about the latest innovations in heart surgery. Surgeons from the nationally recognized heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital will discuss the latest in treatments and technology options for patients. Cardiothoracic surgeons, Drs. Newton and Philpott, will discuss the latest treatment options for heart patients, including the use of advanced transcatheter valve procedures including TAVR and TVMR, and a “clot vacuum” device to remove blood clots without open-heart surgery.

The event is free to participants, but registration is required. Donations to the local HEARTSafe® program will be accepted. HEARTSafe is a public health initiative that aims to increase public awareness, train people in CPR, distribute Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to public locations, and train people in advanced life support.

Heart-healthy hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served as part of the program.
